What is it about homemade ice cream that folks will wait in long lines on sweltering days without getting the least bit grouchy? One example is the Dari-An on Route 332 in Farmington. Biggest crowd-pleasers: mocha chip, mint chip and banana. Down in Naples, at Huntone's Cones, top pacifier is black cherry. Huntone’s has been serving up raspberry sundaes for a couple of weeks now — and there may be an encore. The state Berry Growers Association reports that many farms will have a second picking in the early fall. Meanwhile, local blueberries — fine cholestrol-busters — are kicking in.
Researcher to talk about Irondequoit Bay
Dr. Mark Noll, chairman of the department of earth sciences at SUNY Brockport, will present his research on Irondequoit Bay at 7 p.m. Monday, July 16, at Irondequoit Town Hall, 1280 Titus Ave. Following his presentation, Noll will entertain questions from the audience on the current status of the bay and what is being done, and what more can be done, to improve the bay’s overall ecological health. The presentation is free and open to the public. The event is hosted by the town’s advisory Environmental Task Force.
