For the past few weeks, residents have been reporting sightings of a black bear in the Victor and Fishers areas, Department of Environmental Conservation said. The agency has received calls from seven people who said they saw a bear.
“My strong hunch is it is probably a younger male bear,” said Art Kirsch, senior wildlife biologist for the DEC.
Kirsch added that the bear likely was forced out of its territory in the southern part of the state and is now looking for an area of its own.
