The Hillside Community Shield, an inaugural event of soccer matches to support the youth and families served by Hillside Family of Agencies, will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 11 at Sahlen’s Stadium, 460 Oak St., Rochester.
The featured match will be Rochester Institute of Technology’s (RIT) men’s soccer team vs. the University of Rochester’s (UR) men’s soccer team for the Community Shield. The boy’s teams from Aquinas, led by Coach Howard Allen, and McQuaid, led by Coach Matt McConnochie, will compete in a preliminary match. The event will feature a remembrance service, live entertainment and more.
The Hillside Community Shield is a highly competitive match that promotes both the game of soccer locally as well as raises funds to support community-based initiatives. The inaugural Hillside Community Shield will engage soccer fans, families and the community for an evening of festivities and spirited soccer competition.
The Hillside Community Shield is open to the public and tickets are on sale now. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children 12-years-old and under.
The day's events include Aquinas vs. McQuaid at 4:30 p.m., a 9-11 tribute at 7:15 p.m. and RIT vs. UR at 7:30 p.m.
