The following events are occurring in the Gates Chili area on Thursday, Feb. 9:

"The Snake in the Grass": St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 26 Mendon Ionia Road, Mendon. This is a musical melodrama produced by the Monsignor Schnacky Community Players. Free for senior citizens. For more information or for tickets, call 585-924-9235, or email kathyp@caicbt.com.

9 a.m., Free Gospel Lecture: Legacy Senior Center, 2000 Park Creek Lane, Churchville. From 7-9 p.m. Thursdays. Sponsored by members of the Institute of Divine Metaphysical Research.

9 a.m., "Reflections on Culture and Memories Lost" exhibit: B.T. Roberts Memorial Hall Art Gallery — Northeastern Seminary, 2265 Westside Drive, Rochester. Alberto Rey's collection of paintings has multiple themes. His current work uses nature and painting as a metaphor for human life and death. For details, call 585-899-3271.

9 a.m., Rochester Finger Lakes Regional Exhibition: Rochester Institute of Technology, 73 Lomb Memorial Drive, Rochester. This middle and high school exhibition now through Feb. 29 hosted by RITs Bevier Gallery will be featuring works from 40 area schools including those from Webster Schroeder, Rush-Henrietta and Wayland-Cohocton. The exhibit's artwork will also include a film by Linh Truong, a former student at the school of the arts. Admission is free. For more information, call the Bevier Gallery at 585-475-2646.

9 a.m., Computer Support Specialist Training: Center for Workforce Development, Rochester Tech Park, Building 9, 160 Wallace Way, Rochester. The Center for Workforce Development will be offering computer support specialist training program, a skill that would help you get a job fast. The class is from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for 22 weeks or 632 hours. Call 585-349-9100, or visit www.monroe2cwd.edu, for more details.

Noon, Nutrition and Dementia: Clare Bridge of Perinton, 159 Sullys Trail, Rochester. Alzheimer's Association offers free educational program. Registration is required. Call 800-272-3900, or register online at www.alz.org/rochesterny.

3:30 p.m., Chess Club: Chili Public Library, 3333 Chili Ave., Rochester. Open to children up to 18 years old. Registration is not required.

4 p.m., Books 'n' Bites: Chili Public Library, 3333 Chili Ave., Rochester. Open to children in grades four through six. "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing" by Judy Blume will be discussed by the group. Registration is not required.

5 p.m., Friends of the Chili Public Library Book Sale: Chili Public Library, 3333 Chili Ave., Rochester. This is a preview sale for "friends only."

6:30 p.m., Sit, Stitch and Knit: Gates Public Library, 902 Elmgrove Road, Rochester. Gates Public Library is inviting beginners and experts of all ages to needlecraft, like knitting, stitching and crocheting. Registration is not required. You can bring your own snack or beverage.
