More than two hundred years after his birth, Abraham Lincoln remains a revered American leader, and an exhibit highlighting his heritage is coming to Genesee Community College in October.
"Abraham Lincoln: A Man of His Time, a Man for All Times" explores Lincoln's influence through an oversized panel display created by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. The free exhibit will be open for public viewing in the Alfred O'Connell Library on the GCC Batavia campus from Oct. 1 to Oct. 28.
Using his personal journals, official documents and other printed materials, the exhibit delves into Lincoln's life, accomplishments and legacy. The exhibit is part of an on-going series of lectures and events sponsored by GCC to explore the Civil War and its enduring ramifications 150 years after the battles officially ended.
The National Lincoln Exhibit has been traveling to select libraries and educational sites across the United States since 2009, and when it comes to GCC/Batavia, it will be the first showing at a community college in New York.
