Rochester Area CrimeStoppers, Inc., will host its annual all-day Community Challenge Phone-a-thon fundraiser this Thursday, November 3.
The event will take place at the Public Safety Training Facility at 1190 Scottsville Road in Rochester.
Celebrity Phone Lines will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 585-271-1660. Donations are tax-deductible and can also be made at any time before, during or after the event via the CrimeStoppers website at www.roccrimestoppers.com
The event will be covered live throughout the day by 13WHAMTV/CW16. Media personality Bob Lonsberry will dedicate his broadcast in
support of CrimeStoppers and encourage donors to call the Pledge Line at 585-271-1660.
Volunteers for the Celebrity Phones include County Executive Maggie Brooks Sheriff Patrick OFlynn, Senator James Alesi, Greece Police Chief Todd Baxter, Rochester Police Chief James Sheppard, Brighton Police Chief Mark Henderson, Fairport Police Chief Maureen Chisholm, Webster Police Chief Gerald Pickering, Brockport Police Chief Daniel Varrenti, Rochester Fire Department Chief John Caufield and Executive Chief Sam Mitrano, and candidates for Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley and Bill Taylor.
A special guest at the phone-a-thon will be Paul Vasconcellos, Sr., the father of homicide victim Paulie Vasconcellos. Vasconcellos Sr. has worked closely with CrimeStoppers and local law enforcement since his son’s murder last October, a high-profile case that remains unsolved.
Rochester Area CrimeStoppers is entering its 30th year of service to the community. It was established as an independent non-profit
organization in 1982 to encourage support and partnership with local law enforcement. The volunteer board of directors is comprised of
business and community leaders as well as representatives from law enforcement and local media.
