Class AA quarterfinals
No. 3 Mercy 56,
No. 6 Victor 50
The season came to a close on Wednesday night for the Victor girls basketball team as the Blue Devils fell to Mercy in the Section 5 Class AA quarterfinals.
Danielle Naylon finished with a career-high 18 points for Mercy (12-7). Ten of her 18 came in the fourth quarter, including 4-for-4 from the free throw line. Samantha Sorge and Julia Delgatti each added 12 points while Tylar Guerrieri chipped in 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Fran Valenti scored 13 points to lead Victor (7-12), followed by Emily Seiter with 10 and Jessica Dow with nine.
Class C quarterfinals
No. 1 H-AC 56,
No. 9 Bolivar-Richburg 31
The H-AC girls basketball team remained undefeated on the season with a win over Bolivar-Richburg in the Section 5 Class C quarterfinals.
Jenny Scudder posted 18 points to lead the Wolves. Kayli O'Keefe had 14 points, Abby O'Keefe scored 13 and Aedin Brennan added four points and eight rebounds to help the team improve to 19-0.
Alexis Sloat tallied 10 points to pace Bolivar-Richburg (7-13).
H-AC will square off in the semifinals against No. 4 York on Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Honeoye Falls-Lima High School.
No. 2 Red Jacket 69,
No. 7 Wheatland-Chili 15
The Red Jacket girls basketball team defeated visiting Wheatland-Chili on Wednesday night to advance to the Section 5 Class C semifinals.
The Indians jumped out to a 19-3 lead after the first quarter and never looked back as they improved to 16-3 on the season.
Bailey Hixson scored 28 points and added eight rebounds to lead Red Jacket. Carlye Capron had eight points, Emily Hotchkiss chipped in seven and Danielle Ogrodowski added four points and 10 rebounds.
Mariana Crevison led Wheatland-Chili (7-13) with six points.
Red Jacket will face No. 3 Keshequa on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Honeoye Fall-Lima High School.
