A female fraternity at the Rochester Institute of Technology makes Breast Cancer Awareness their priority all year round.
Zeta Tau Alpha’s philanthropy is breast cancer research.
The 60 members of the group range in majors from photography to engineering.
The group recently helped out with the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester’s ARTrageous Affair.
Every year, the fraternity holds a yogurt-eating contest to collect lids for Yoplait’s Save Lids to Save
Lives campaign. Last year, they sent 1,284 lids to Yoplait.
Every spring, the fraternity holds a “Think Pink” event to continue breast cancer awareness outside of October.
Two years ago, the fraternity held a joint fundraiser with the hockey team called “Make the Rink Pink” and sold pink items and the hockey players wore pink socks, jerseys and had pink tape on their hockey sticks. A total of $21,000 was raised.
