An undercover Gates Police officer was threatened with a knife while investigating an advertisement for escort services on Friday.

Around 10:42 a.m., a Gates Police sergeant responded to an online advertisement for escort services and spoke with a woman who agreed to meet him at a motel in town. The woman, Kristi Y. Simonson, 33, of Vick Park A in Rochester, accepted $80 in cash in exchange for sexual activity, according to police. Simonson allegedly went into the bathroom to "freshen up" and locked the door at which point a man came in and ordered the undercover officer to leave, threatening him with a fist, police said.

The man, identified as Charod P. White, 21, of Vick Park A in Rochester, then allegedly threatened the officer with a knife after he requested a refund.White was charged with first-degree robbery, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and petit larceny. Simonson was charged with first-degree robbery, petit larceny, and prostitution.

The two were arraigned before Gates Town Justice  Sam Valleriani and remanded to the Monroe County Jail: Sharod on $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond and Simonson on $25,000.00 cash or $50,000 bond.
