Stroke of luck or moment of inspiration that made your business possible:
In the March 2008 issue of Business Week there was an article saying that Yogen Fruz was coming to the United States... Then I went on their website, and made a phone call, and then I went to Canada to find out more about the company. I liked the product and the people. It happened to have everything, and the next question was would this be a good business for the United States. I looked around and knew that yogurt was a big craze in California that was growing, and California is the leader of a lot of things. It’s a product that is naturally good, it’s not something that just came out of a lab. Upstate New York had a solid economy, and that was about right in the middle of when Bear Stearns went under. I thought the worst was behind us, so I looked into this. We negotiated the deal. ... I opened the first store at Eastview Mall and the lines poured in immediately. I was at the register and I couldn’t even punch out fast enough. People would pay and come back with empty cups and go back to the end of the line.
