A high-ranking prosecutor in the Monroe County District Attorney's office is running on the Democratic ticket for county court judge.
Today, the Monroe County Democratic Committee formally announced they'd chosen Doug Randall, the chief of the major felony division at the district attorney's office, to run for the spot.
Randall says it's been an honor to serve as a prosecutor, and it would be an equal honor to serve as a county court judge, according to a statement released today.
“County Court is where many of the most serious felony cases are tried, and I know the challenges judges, juries and attorneys face every day as they seek to preserve justice and the rule of law,” Randall said. “A county court judge must be devoted to public safety, dedicated to justice and be a figure of unquestioned integrity, and I pledge to uphold those standards.”
Randall has served in the district attorney's office since 1985, handling more than 10,000 felony cases. He's worked with numerous social agencies, including Bivona Child Advocacy Center, Lifespan, New York State Children’s Justice Task Force, Rochester Youth Violence Partnership and the Monroe County Bar Association’s Task Force on Family Violence.
