Well, here it is seven years later, and the sunken city is hit again with another hurricane. The last one cost us $7 billion to $9 billion, but who is counting? Certainly not our federal government — if they were, we would not be shoveling more money into that sinkhole. Why is it that a country that is run by educated people continuously throws money away on the insanity of it all? Rivers, lakes and oceans will (at some time) overflow their banks, yet we reward people who live in these areas by bailing them out with federal and state money. Encouraging this is one of the last things we should be doing.
We are all born onto this planet Earth; it is our home. We also are born and enrolled in the University of Earth at birth. All we have to do is observe the world around us, and we will understand that it is not wise to live on the banks of the waterways that surround us. Mankind has been taught this lesson for thousands of years, and yet we keep getting drawn back to this bad habit. If government and insurance companies would not bail them out, if fines were placed upon them for polluting the waterways with their building structures and other debris that is washed away, this nonsense would begin to end. We would demonstrate that we really do appreciate the Earth we call home!
