The Spencerport Rangers matched up against the Hilton Cadets on Friday night in a clash of two teams that looked very different. The Rangers lacked their typical high intensity while Hilton looked ready to play from the start. The final score was 35-7 in favor of the Cadets.

Mike Ingoglia, the senior running back for the Cadets, looked good running over the Ranger defense on Friday night. Although in the second half he didn’t play much as the score wasn’t close, he piled up 16 carries for 101 yards and two touchdowns while also catching two passes for 27 yards. His 133 yards of total offense were a game-high. Sophomore quarterback D.J. Logory cannot drive a car yet, but it looked like he had the keys last night to the Hilton offense and drove them down the field for five scores throughout the game. Logory had thirteen attempts against the Ranger defense for ten completions. The ten completions that D.J. Logory had went for a total of 124 yards and two scores as the Ranger defense didn’t look good against Hilton’s pass plays like the screen. Logory also had one rushing touchdown in the third quarter. Phil Ngo was just about the only spotlight for the Ranger team as he broke a run from the Ranger’s side of the fifty yard line inside of Hilton’s 10 yard line and then capped the Ranger drive with a touchdown from six yards out in the fourth quarter. Injuries also hurt the Rangers also as Andrew Watson the Rangers senior quarterback did not play the first half due to injuries and Matt Johantgen left in the middle of the game with a leg injury.

Duane Jennings also appeared to be limping, but he also looked like he would be ok. The Rangers double wing offense could never seem to fully get going and control the clock as it was designed to. After the first quarter the score was 21-0 in favor of Hilton and at half Hilton lead 28-0. After the first half the Rangers played better scoring in the fourth quarter.

Looking forward to next week the Rangers will certainly be looking for a better result and more intensity as they will come out against a tough opponent in Churchville Chili for homecoming who beat Brockport 34-12 in their opening game of the season. Hilton also will be looking forward and next week they will face Brockport who lost to Churchville 34-12 in their opening game.
