The Gates Chili football team picked up its second win of the season with a win over visiting Penfield on Friday night.
The Spartans rushed for 282 yards as a team were led by CJ Palozzi, who finished with 106 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries. Myles McFadded, Matt Miller, Hugo Nguyen and Nathan Fox each added a rushing touchdown. For Nguyen and Fox it was the first touchdown of their varsity careers.
Freshman Isaiah Brown recorded his first varsity interception for Gates Chili, returning it 75 yards for a touchdown.
Penfield falls to 1-1.

Penn Yan 16
The Newark football team improved to 1-1 on the season with a win over Penn Yan.
The Reds outscored the Mustangs 40-8 in the first half.
John Martisch was a key player on both sides of the ball for Penn Yan. Martisch made 14 tackles (two for loss) on the defensive side of the ball while carrying the ball 10 times for 74 yards and a touchdown on offense. He also added a pair of two-point conversions, giving him 10 of Penn Yan’s 16 points. Alex Madigan added 65 yards on 13 carries to pace the ground game. Shane Bloom led the passing attack, going 10-for-28 for 119 yards and one touchdown. Rion Davison led the receiving core with three catches for 45 yards and touchdown. James Burdette had a good all-around game as well for Penn Yan, as he finished with four receptions for 46 yards on offense and six tackles (three for loss, one sack) on defense.
The Mustangs fall to 0-2.
Victor 26,
Irondequoit 7
The Blue Devils improved to 2-0 with a victory over Irondequoit.
Mike Wagner led the Victor rushing attack with 137 yards and three touchdowns. Tommy Wagner added 22 carries for 109 yards and a touchdown.
The Victor defense was led by Ethan Venosa and Brett Nasello, who each made six tackles. Venosa added two sacks while the defense also blocked a pair of punts that set up short scoring drives.
Irondequoit falls to 0-2.

North Rose-Wolcott 7-16-10
Gananda improved to 2-0 with a win over North Rose-Wolcott.
Jessie Carder led the Blue Panther attack with nine kills, Peyton Wyjad notched 16 assists and Taylor Lioy made eight aces.
Honeoye 25-25-25,
Bloomfield 11-21-10
The Honeoye girls volleyball team improved to 2-0 with a straight set victory over Bloomfield.
Kelsey Cornish collected 13 kills and 12 digs to lead the Bulldogs while Hannah Orman added six aces.
Chelsea Towns notched five blocks to lead Bloomfield. Peyton Robinson added eight assists.

The Clyde-Savannah girls volleyball team improved to 4-0, 2-0 in league play, with a victory over Sodus.
Mary Beth Schram paced the Golden Eagle attack with eight kills and seven aces. Marissa Sharp recorded seven aces and four assists, Ariel Luna chipped in three kills and three aces and Aliyah Fowler had three aces and block.
Hannah Riter led the way for Sodus (0-3, 0-2) with three aces. Carlie Phillips made three kills and Becca Knarr had two assists.

The South Seneca/Romulus girls volleyball team defeated Dundee on Friday, improving to 1-1, 1-1 in league play.
Stephanie Buchell led South Seneca/Romulus with 10 kills and four aces. Tally McDonald had 11 kills and three aces while Cassie Wyckoff totaled 28 assists.
McKenna Hastings paced Dundee (2-1, 0-1) with 13 digs and six kills. Nick Fultz added 24 digs.
BOYS SOCCER

Cato-Meridian 0
The Newark boys soccer team improved to 2-0 with a win over Cato-Meridian.
Dan Staples made three saves for the Reds to earn his second shutout of the season. Tyler Collins, Evan Vasquez and Daron Thurton each had one goal to power the offense.
Greece Odyssey 7,
H-AC 0
Greece Odyssey improved to 2-2 on the season with a victory over H-AC on Friday.
Sophomore Angelo Visca tallied four points in the win, scoring one goal and collecting three assists. Senior Victorin Kothor had two goals and one assist while sophomore Austin Visca added two assists. Juniors Jamie Magone and Jon Moriarty combined to make seven saves for the shutout in goal.
H-AC falls to 0-2.

Junior Hunter DeLyser notched a hat trick for Marion as the Black Knights defeated visiting North Rose-Wolcott.
Trevor DeLyser, Hunter’s younger brother, Marion’s other goal to help the team improve to 3-0.

Sodus improved to 1-1 with a win over Midalkes.
Conn Barnes and James Derrenbacher each had a goal and an assist to lead the Spartans.

The McQuaid boys soccer team played to a draw against Fayetteville-Manlius in their first game of the season.
Salvador Barragan scored with 48 seconds left in the game on a scramble in front of the net to give the Knights the tie. Christian Bovenzi made 12 saves in goal.

The Red Raiders improved to 6-1, 4-1 in league play, with a win over visiting Naples on Friday afternoon.
The teams of Corin Deloge/Elizabeth Reid and Lydia Williams/Cara Graham were both straight set winners for Pal-Mac. Megan Doyle earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory in second singles, while Erin Graham picked up a 6-4, 6-2 win in third singles.
Jessie Gorcica earned a 6-3, 6-1 win at first singles for Naples (2-2).
Penn Yan 5,
Bloomfield 0
The Penn Yan girls tennis team improved to 3-1 with a win over Bloomfield.
Heather Lee, Rachel Maslyn and Colleen Cincotta were all winners in singles play for the Mustangs. Hannah Christensen and Ashley Owens teamed up for a win in first doubles, while Penn Yan won second doubles by default.
Bloomfield falls to 1-1.

Mackenzie Moranz made seven saves for her second shutout of the season as Pittsford Sutherland defeated visiting Canandaigua on Friday to improve to 2-1 on the season.
Harley DeNoto and Brielle Kwarta each had a goal for the Knights, while Maggie Doran and Alex Herrera each had an assist.

The Pal-Mac girls tennis team defeated Marcus Whitman on Friday to earn its first win of the season.
The Red Raiders scored the final seven goals of the match after falling behind 2-0 after 24 minutes on two goals by Caitlyn Grover.
Sam Gagliano led Pal-Mac with four goals. Emily Blazey added three assists as the team improved to 1-0-1.

The Dundee girls soccer team earned its first win of the season on Friday night as they defeated Hammondsport 4-0.
Nolleen Whetham gave the Scotsmen a 1-0 lead with a goal 14 minutes into the game off an assist from Kali Day. Megan Howell tallied the next goal 12 minutes later off a pass from Kayla Marusarz, while Kailee Morrison and Day each added a goal to round out the scoring. Brooke Howell recorded three saves to earn the shutout in goal.
Dundee improves to 1-1, Hammondsport falls to 0-3.

Jessica Marlowe nothced three goals and one assist to lead Greece Odyssey over visiting Greece Olympia.
Liana Bucciarelli added a goal as the Leopards improved to 4-0.

The Hilton girls soccer team improved to 3-1 with a victory over Spencerport.
Lindsay Pelcher tallied the lone goal of the match 10 minutes into the second half from 25 yards out. Jordan Ott, who has allowed one goal in four game this season, earned her 16th career shutout.

Playing on the front nine at Lakeside Golf Course, Jake Blondell took medalist honors for Midlakes with a 37. Matt LaPaglia followed with a 41 while Skyler Sullivan carded a 48.
Tyler Bailey led Penn Yan with a 38. Corey Grace followed with a 46.
