1. GC’s top gunner
The Spartans lost their best long-stick defender, Adam Wacenske, to graduation, but they will most likely be able to hang in games with their stellar attack. Senior Tyler Webb was the team’s leading scorer as a junior, with 50 goals and 14 assists, and the most productive passer on the team also returns. Junior Grant Ferguson comes off of a season in which he dished out 25 assists and also scored 30 goals.

2. Breakout season
In the five-year history of Churchville-Chili’s boys lacrosse program, the Saints have gotten steadily more competitive. Last season they beat Webster Schroeder for the first time and in the offseason played Thomas tight. Look for junior attack Ryan Yunker (43 goals, 25 assists) and Jon Hemink (39 goals, 27 assists) to lead the Saints further than they’ve ever been before.

3. Devil around the crease
The West side seems to be chock full of potent scoring and Brockport is no exception. Though the Blue Devils lose leading point-man Ryan Pratt to graduation (28 goals, 33 assists), they bring back midfielder Jake Burns and attack Trevor Hayward. Burns led the team in goals with 47 in 2009, while Hayward lit the lamp 32 times. Now all they need is someone to feed them.

4. Save the date
Spencerport has one game circled in red on its 2010 calendar. The Rangers will look to avenge tough losses to perennial Division 3 favorite Brighton this season and will need senior attacks Nick Fischer (30 goals, 17 assists) and Austin Hintz (39 goals, 15 assists) to lead the way. Spencerport has just six returning starters, but head coach Matt Nentarz expects his young defense to play above their experience level.

5. New kids in the pipes
Several teams lost key members to their defensive units and will need youngsters to step up. Junior Brian Lane will take over for departed goalie Jason Baetzhold for Gates Chili and junior Chris Iannone will start for Brockport. Sophomore Tyler Schweikert saw the most minutes of any Spencerport goalie and will look to improve upon the 55.43 save percentage he had in 2009.
